Infant Program (4 - 18 Months)

The Sunflower House Infant Room provides a safe, loving, respectful, and nurturing environment for all our babies; one that strives to meet their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.

Weekly themed program plans that include both indoor and outdoor activities are designed to help achieve each child’s developmental goals through creative arts, sensory play, music, room arrangement, and other activities.

Toys, equipment, and room arrangement are changed regularly to provide new, stimulating environments and materials for babies to explore. Through play, children learn to deal with their emotions, build their vocabulary, manipulate objects, coordinate body movements, and develop social skills.

Maximum class size: 10 infants

Five areas of development are incorporated into the daily program. These include:

  • Sensory: Helps children learn about the world around them by seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting.
  • Creative: Encourages individual expression and creativity, offering opportunities to explore through various artistic mediums.
  • Gross Motor: Helps develop gross motor skills through jumping, running, crawling, climbing, turning, etc.
  • Fine Motor/Cognitive: Strengthens problem-solving skills with tools such as shape sorters, simple puzzles, drop toys, and blocks.
  • Language: Promotes vocabulary, thinking, and reasoning skills; helps children to express themselves by using simple words.
